Soon, the process of claiming a body after post mortem will become easy at Kalyan's Rukminibai civic hospital. On Wednesday, a police help centre was inaugurated at the hospital to help people carry out legal formalities without any hassles.

Mayor Vinita Rane said that the centre will be a major relief for those who wait for hours to claim the body of their closed ones, and with this new centre in place, all the legal formalities will be done here to avoid troubles and running around.

The entire process earlier involved many steps and took nearly 4-5 hours to file a first information report (FIR) at the local police station, wait for the police to get the panchnama (witness testimony) and then receive the body for post mortem. But this new addition in the hospital is expected to reduce the time and effort.

Keeping the same in mind, Shiv Sena leader Vijay Salvi said that people were demanding of such centre for the past year. Likewise, he wrote to the Kalyan Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Shinde in July 2018.
