So far 35 lakh 26 thousand 265 mothers have benefited from Pradhan Mantri Matruvandana Yojana. Pradhan Mantri Matruvandana Yojana aims to reduce the impact of malnutrition and improve maternal and child health through health care-facilitation and promotion to women during pregnancy and childbirth. Under this scheme, assistance of INR 5000 is given in two installments for the first child.
The first installment is INR 3000 and for this registration of pregnancy at a Government Health Center notified by the State Government and at least one antenatal check-up within 6 months from the date of last menstrual period is required. The second installment is INR 2,000 and for this the birth registration of the child and the completion of primary cycle of BCG, OPV Zero, OPV 3 but, 3 doses of Pentavalent or alternative immunization of the child is required.
If the second child is a girl, a lump sum of INR 6,000 is given after her birth. For this, a birth certificate is required and the child must be vaccinated up to Penta 3 (14 weeks). 35,26,265 beneficiaries have benefited under this scheme from 2017 to March 2024.
Online Registration of Beneficiary
According to the Central Government's letter dated July 14, 2022, Pradhan Mantri Matruvandana Yojana II has been implemented in the country in a new form. This scheme used to provide benefits only for the first child, but now as per the new concept, the beneficiary after the birth of a second child girl after 1st April 2022 is also included in this scheme. Asha or Anganwadi sevika in their area of work by finding the eligible beneficiary and enrolling the beneficiary in online PMMVY software.
Under this scheme, 2,82,239 beneficiaries in the state have benefited from January 2024 to November 2024, 5,47,219 in 2020-21, 6,09,921 in 2021-22, 5,21 in 2022-23, 750 and 1,19,828 beneficiaries have availed the benefit in the year 2023-24.
