According to the four-week forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday, January 21, Maharashtra is likely to experience rainfall once again from February 5.

Moreover, the weather in central India will be dry from January 22 to February 4. Even though some rainfall is expected in the northern belt and the southern tip, rainy weather is expected in Konkan, Western Maharashtra, North Maharashtra and Marathwada. This weather will be more prevalent in the Konkan from February 5 to 11. So, in the following week, this effect will be felt in other places in Maharashtra as well.

In addition, as per the forecast, the minimum temperature will drop below average in some parts of the state the last few days of January to the first few days of February. Even at high temperatures, there may be some relief during this time. However, it is expected that the maximum temperature is to rise again from February 5.

Meanwhile, due to this constantly changing climate, mango, vegetable and other crops in Konkan have been affected by thrips and blight. Moreover, the risk could increase further if the same conditions persist in February. In view of the situation, guidance is also being given to the farmers for them to protect their crops better.

On the other hand, earlier on Thursday, January 21, the minimum temperature in Mumbai was clocked at 18.2 degrees Celsius. According to sources, the low-pressure area that formed a few days ago had caused a change in the weather. As a result, minimum and maximum temperatures witnessed a decline in Mumbai and across the state. Moreover, the IMD has also forecasted that the downward trend will continue throughout the week.
