The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi have asked the civic administration to repair the roads before Diwali after receiving numerous complaints about the potholes.
This decision was taken in a review meeting conducted by Suryavanshi on Wednesday, October 20. The others present in the meeting were city engineer Sapna Koli-Devanpalli and the other concerned executive engineer.
He has directed the city engineer to blacklist the contractors who fail to do their work or are doing work in a shoddy manner. Off late, they had received many complaints on the toll-free number introduced on Friday, October 8. Reportedly, they received a total of 296 complaints from citizens living in different parts of the city.
Several complaints included the roads belonging to Public Works Department (PWD), Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), while a few complaints were about the roads belonging to Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) region.
Sapna Koli, City Engineer, said that while sorting out the complaints, they figured out that a total of 48 complaints were about the roads in Kalyan-Dombivli. Therefore, they directed the civic body to take up the repair work immediately.
She further said they could actually begin the pothole repair work after Friday, October 15, since it had stopped raining. The civic body chief has now asked to repair all the major roads in the city.
The KDMC chief has asked to call for a meeting in the coming days with the contractors and appeal to them to increase the workforce to do the work without delay.
