Residents plan election boycott

SHARES

Bandra - In a jolt to parties that view the Bandra east pockets as potential vote banks, the residents of Kher Nagar and Gandhi Nagar who reside in MHADA buildings have decided to boycott the civic elections.
As per MHADA Housing Stock, redevelopment work of 56 buildings is in the pipeline. Residents have been living in the now-decrepit buildings for the past 60 years. Residents say they have written applications to the housing authority and the State Government but to their dismay, no action has been taken.
Around 3,000 probable voters have snubbed the elections and they have got the support from residents of Nirmal Nagar, Kannamvar Nagar Vikhroli, Tagore Nagar, Pant Nagar Ghatkopar and other MHADA building residents.
If they stick to their guns, these elections could well be nerve wracking for most political parties. Watch this space for updates.
