Effects of the returning monsoon will be experienced in Maharashtra in the next 48 hours. Report regarding the same was released by IMD after the climate changed on Tuesday, October 21, 2020, and it is said that the monsoon is expected to hit North Maharashtra in the next 48 hours.

Mumbai has not witnessed rainfall in the last few days, however, the sky has been cloudy in general and the sky might get cloudy in the city and suburbs, on Thursday, October 22. Moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected. 

Currently, the returning monsoon is witnessed in parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and will continue towards the western belt of the country, changing the weather in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal eventually.

In the last 24 hours, rains have been recorded in some places in Central Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, Marathwada and Vidarbha. Thundershowers and thundershowers are expected in sparsely populated areas across the state, including Goa.

IMD Chief, KS Hosalikar took to Twitter to share the update, and said, "Latest radar and satellite images showing development of tall convection clouds in Arabian away from west coast upto south. Hazy weather with poor visibility in Mumbai. Drive slowly."

RMC, Mumbai, shared, "Thunderstorm developments over more parts of North Konkan: Thunderstorm accompanied lightning, gusty winds and moderate to intense spells of rain very likely to occur at isolated places over Mumbai and Palghar during next 3-4 hours."
