As per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of cyberbullying cases in India.

According to the reports, there were 140 cases registered for cyberbullying cases against minors, out of which 69 were from Maharashtra. To tackle the crime, the state cyber department has issued an advisory for the same.

Last year, as per the reports, there were 217 cases of cyberbullying/stalking were registered against women and children in 19 metros across the country. The NCRB data revealed that Mumbai had registered the maximum number of cases - 105, while Hyderabad registered 49 cases.

Child psychologist Dr. Ali Gabhrani, while addressing the situation, commented that cyberbullying makes a huge impact on the child's mental health and as well as on the child's online activity. He further added that it takes time for the child to heal, and hence the victim turns into isolation because of the same.

Earlier it was reported that cybercrime in Maharashtra was on a rise during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the state had not completed a single trial of these cases since 2020 until August this year. According to the reports, out of the 382 cases whose trials were completed, the accused were convicted in 26% of these cases (99 cases).
