Mumbaikars are complaining about a large number of road works in the city. There is also a lot of traffic congestion in the city.
Taking note of many such problems and complaints, Bhushan Gagrani said that the municipal corporation aims to focus on all the roads in the city. However, the contractors have not been instructed to dig any new roads until the ongoing works are completed. However, road works that can be completed before the monsoon will be taken up.
Bhushan Gagrani said that all municipal officials and contractors have been instructed to ensure that the roads on which work is underway are suitable for traffic before the monsoon. The Municipal Corporation has set a deadline of May 31 to complete the ongoing road work.
Speaking about the road concreting project, the Commissioner said that although the civic body aims to concretise all roads in Mumbai, residents have objected to the non-concreting of roads in good condition.
If residents submit such proposals demanding that road work in a particular area not be done, the proposal will be considered.
Bhushan Gagrani said that the Municipal Corporation is working with other organizations like MSRDC, MMRDA etc. to solve the traffic problem on the Western and Eastern Express Highways.
Also, traffic problems on other major roads will be solved and the roads in the city will be made pothole-free.
The Municipal Corporation had sought suggestions and expectations from citizens for the city budget for the financial year 2025-26. In response to this, the Municipality received 2238 suggestions from citizens, which have been taken into account. Efforts have also been made to include them in the budget.
