Republican Party adopts a National Park panther

The Republlican Party of India (Athavale) has decided to mark Buddha Purnima and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's anniversary in a unique style.

The party's Dahisar taluka wing will adopt a panther for a year under the animal adoption scheme being implemented in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Dilip Whavle, president of the Dahisar wing of the RPI has issued a demand draft of Rs 1.20 lakh to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. An official announcement of the initiative will be made on Monday during a programme that will be helmed by Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athavale.

The animal adoption scheme was started in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park a few years ago so as to give them the care and love animals need. Under this scheme, any person can donate a year’s expenditure for adopting and nurturing animals.
