In a petrifying incident, as many as four students, a staffer and driver from Navi Mumbai had a narrow escape after the school bus ferrying them suddenly caught fire this morning, September 12.

According to the Kharghar fire brigade staff, they received the emergency call of a bus caught fire at 11.30 am. The Kharghar fire bridge rescue team rushed to the spot for firefighting operation. They doused the flames within 10-15 minutes and prevented the bus from getting completely charred.

Besides, the Kharghar police team also rushed to the spot. And a water tanker was also pressed into service.

Reports stated that the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the school bus engine bonnet.

As the bus driver saw fire smoke emanating from the engine bonnet, he immediately halted the bus on the roadside. The passer by helped him in evacuating those four students from the bus before the fire engulfed the bus partially.

The students had panicked due to the fire incident but were pacified by the assistant teacher who then informed the school principal and the students were later handed over to their parents.
