Even though Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been beautifying the city as a result of its “Green Mile Project”, in recent developments, the Senapati Bapat Marg is reportedly to be renewed.

The Senapati Bapat Marg happens to be a location in South Mumbai that passes through the areas of Dadar, Prabhadevi and Parel. According to sources, eco-friendly sidewalks for pedestrians are to be provided. Moreover, traffic-free roads and the beautification of neglected areas under bridges are being tended to so that the children can play. In addition, attractive seating arrangements are to be constructed for senior citizens.

On the other hand, on March 14, the civic body of Mumbai greenlit a project that will see the establishment of fibreglass railings on footpaths across key locations across the city. The civic body will reportedly spend INR 75 crores towards pedestrian safety improvements which include the fibreglass railings. According to reports, these railings will improve safety on Mumbai’s roads while also creating enough distance between the road and the footpath.

Moreover, the railings will be particularly helpful during peak hour traffic when some riders decide to encroach on the footpath to beat the traffic. Furthermore, the BMC has asserted that it is to install fibreglass walls on roads as well as dividers at around 30 roads of Mumbai also adding that a contractor has been appointed for this project with a completion deadline of 36 months.
