December 29 will forever remain in our minds, as a fire at the city's most popular Kamala Mills took 14 lives. The fire started at Mojo’s Bistro reached 1 Above smothering people who tried saving their lives by locking themselves in the toilet. A week after the incident, the fire audit report has revealed that the fire broke out at the restaurant due to the hookah. 

However, after the incident, leaders of opposition parties blamed the BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta for not probing the issue and taking action against illegal structures. Mehta later revealed that he was being pressurised to not to take action against it.

MNS Sandeep Deshpande asked Mehta to reveal the name of the political leader who is threatening him, hinting towards Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam. Along with MNS, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray too stepped into the matter and said that Mehta should go ahead with razing illegal structures, adding that his party will back him.

Uddhav Thackeray also commented on N M Joshi Marg police who announced a prize money of Rs 1 lakh for nabbing 1 Above restaurant’s owners and accused. Thackeray said that they were not terrorists and it is the duty of the police to find out the accused. Meanwhile, leaders of opposition parties targeted Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray saying that prior to the fire incident, he had gone to the pub, but soon Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray questioned that prior a day of Mantralaya fire, CM Devendra Fadnavis had gone to the Mantralay. So, does that mean that he is responsible for the fire?

Police and the officials are further investigating in the fire tragedy matter.
