The Shiv Sena party has appointed 36 coordinators for Mumbai and will appoint at least one person as the social media coordinator in each of the 288 Assembly constituencies by mid-November.

This comes after the government was under the limelight post the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and the Palghar mob lynching. This step has been taken for the youth wing of the Shiv Sena to organically fight the opposition’s bots.

According to Hindustan Times, the step to give a structure to the social media department was the brainchild of Aaditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena leader. In recent times, post the death of Rajput, along with the allegations made by actor Kangana Ranaut, the Shiv Sena party took a heavy beating on social media. However, officials have denied the same stating that most of the social media accounts that were used to defame the party were fake.

On Monday, the young leader had held a meeting with Mumbai’s social media coordinators at Sahyadri guesthouse in Malabar Hill and asked them to focus on the government’s work. As per media reports, the key role of the coordinators would be to push government initiatives, read papers, and most importantly, not to engage in foul language with people who are being abusive. Moreover, strict disciplinary action is said to be taken against the ones who use foul language.
