Mumbai's Shivaji Park has been popular among cricketers, but besides them, the park on a regular basis is now being used by many other sports enthusiasts. The ground boasts of several pitches and after analysing the use of the ground for other sports, officials have decided to develop the same.

As per recent development, the officials will soon provide a jogging track, cycling track, football ground, basketball court, skating rink, kabaddi and kho kho courts. Once the construction is done, these facilities will be open for Mumbaikars 24*7.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is also planning to include the extra spaces that several clubs near Shivaji Park are taking up. These clubs include Bengal Club and Adarsh Football Club. Assistant Commissioner of G-North Ward, Kiran Dighavkar stated that they will provide a high-quality football ground as the current football ground on the northern side of the park does not have a quality surface and fence.

Interestingly, even after the allocation of the space for several sports activities, 31 per cent of the ground will be open. The priority of the committee members is to remove the mud on the ground as its dust particles cause problems to children and citizens. After the removal of the mud, the grounds will have a green cover.
