Goregaon- the BMC has called for tenders to build the new Topiwala market and theatre.
Former mayor Sunil Prabhu had sanctioned the proposal to rebuild the market and theatre three years ago. But what about the existing 206 shopkeepers in that area is the question the BMC now has to grapple with. There is an unfinished transit camp in front of the market which will have 190 stalls measuring 5 ft by 5 ft. However, the stalls are yet to be fitted with electriicity. The inadequate space between the stalls could be an impediment for women wanting to move within the market, says vegetable vendor Bhairavnath Prajapati. The shopkeepers have now complained to the authorities.
