The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had conducted an audit on Juhu Tara Road Bridge and declared that it was in dilapidated condition.
Due to the structural repairs, the traffic has been diverted to other routes which has caused major inconvenience to travellers. It is one of the busiest bridges in Western suburbs and now after the traffic being diverted to SV Road, it causes great disruption especially during peak hours.
However, SNDT University Committee has decided that it will open its gates for the commuters. The route will start from Juhu Tara Road and end at Raheja College. In a first of its kind case, an educational institute has granted public access to its campus.
However, the authorities will proceed with the move from next week on the condition that there should be cameras along the route, the road should be maintained by the BMC until the public has access to it, there should be two women constables on security as SNDT has over 5000 girl students and 300 students who stay in the hostel.
