For the last one week, residents of the Vighnaharta Society on RM Street in Masjid Bunder have been having an ongoing tussle with hawkers who have been leaving their wares in the compound.

While leaving such wares in the MHADA buildigs is forbidden, hawkers have been flouting the rules, resulting in tiffs between the building's committee members and the hawkers, some of whom reside in the building.

According to the building's general secretary Anand Kale, although the place occupied by the hawkers is a public place, it is still within the building's compound and the wares cause nuisance. However, one of the hawkers Rajendra Ingle who lives in the building, claims the area is a public space and can be used by anybody.
