The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will undertake pipeline work in Sewri, leading to an 18-hour water supply shutdown in parts of south and central Mumbai from 10 AM on April 22 to 4 AM on April 23.
As part of the project, two 1,500 mm butterfly valves will be installed on the tunnel pipeline connected to the Bhandarwada Hill reservoir. The civic body said this upgrade will help improve water distribution across various reservoirs in the city.
During this period, water supply will be completely shut in several areas of A, B, C and F South wards, while parts of E ward will receive water at reduced pressure.
In A ward, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus area, along with government offices and key institutions, will face a shutdown on Wednesday. In B ward, areas like Dongri and Masjid Bunder will see phased disruptions across both days. Parts of C ward, including markets and residential pockets, will face a shutdown on Thursday.
In E ward, areas such as Byculla, Nagpada, Agripada and Kalachowki will receive low-pressure supply on Thursday, while Mazgaon, Dockyard Road and port areas will face a complete shutdown on Wednesday.
Hospitals will also be affected. Sir JJ Hospital, Kasturba Hospital and Nair Hospital will receive water at reduced pressure.
In F South ward, Sewri, Wadala East and Abhyudaya Nagar will face a shutdown on Thursday, while Lalbaug, Parel and Dadar will have low-pressure supply. Hospitals including KEM Hospital, Tata Memorial Hospital, Jerbai Wadia Hospital and MGM Hospital will also receive water at reduced pressure.
The BMC has advised residents to store water in advance, use it judiciously, and boil and filter drinking water for the next few days.
