Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced in both the Houses of the Legislature that after presenting the report of the State Backward Classes Commission, if necessary, a special session of the Legislature will be called in February 2024. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was speaking in the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly while replying to the discussion on Maratha reservation. There will be no injustice to any community while giving reservation to the Maratha community. The Maratha community will be given a reservation that is sustainable and within the ambit of law without jeopardising the reservation of the OBC community. The Chief Minister also gave a clear assurance that we will not sit peacefully without this.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, we are ready to do whatever we have to do for Maratha reservation. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had promised to provide reservation to the Maratha community by taking a public oath. I still stand by it. He also appealed to those agitating for reservation that the government is positive about providing reservation. Therefore, the protesters should have faith in the work of the government. Cooperate in maintaining law and order in the state. For the last few days, efforts are being made to pollute the social atmosphere in the state.

The creation of a rift between any two communities is not a matter of concern for the state. This does not suit progressive Maharashtra at all. The rulers, opposition parties and the entire society have always taken care that tension does not increase anywhere in Maharashtra. Peace, law and order and brotherhood should prevail in the state. Animosity should not spread in society on any pretext. The Chief Minister also said that if an appropriate approach is adopted through dialogue, all problems will be solved.

The Chief Minister said that the Maratha community should get reservation within the ambit of law without affecting the reservation of OBC or any other community, this is our feeling. Like other backward communities, the Maratha community also wants to progress through reservation. Due to emotional stress due to this demand, some people even took steps like suicide. All this is excruciating and painful and we cannot tolerate it. By mingling with all other communities of the state, the Maratha community has strengthened the cultural and social fabric of Maharashtra. He also said that it has a huge contribution in the development of Maharashtra.
