On Wednesday, a speedboat consisting of 25 people toppled in the Arabian sea near Girgaon Chowpatty after a party had gone to inaugurate the Shiv Smarak by laying the foundation stone for the memorial. At around 4:45 pm, the speedboat had left for the program with 25 people onboard.

However, as the boat was reaching the site, it hit a rock leading to the boat toppling in the sea. In the meantime, two helicopters and two rescue boats have been dispatched to save the party. Reportedly, it has been learned that the passengers are safe. The fire brigade department and the emergency squad has been kept ready at the Girgaon Chowpatty and Nariman Point jetty to deal with any emergency situations.

The event was to start filling the sea for preparing the base for the memorial and a small ceremony had been organised by the contractor. However, after the boat crashed into rocks, the ceremony was called off.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that a person named Siddhesh Pawar, a Shivsangram member is missing and the search operation for the same is ongoing.
