'Atal Setu' connecting Mumbai to Navi Mumbai was opened for traffic from Saturday. This sea route made the travel of Mumbaikars comfortable. Lakhs of vehicles passed through the bridge in the first two days. However, many people are stopping their vehicles and rushing to see this sea bridge. After receiving the complaint in this regard, the police have increased the level of action.
The traffic police has taken action against 264 unruly drivers who stopped their vehicles without any reason and took selfies on Atal Setu and collected a fine of thousands of rupees from them. At the same time, the police have also cracked down on those who violate traffic rules.
This action was taken under sections 122 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. A fine of INR 500-500 has been imposed on the drivers. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has appealed to the drivers not to put their lives and that of others in danger by stopping their vehicles unnecessarily at 'Atal Setu'.
