'Atal Setu' connecting Mumbai to Navi Mumbai was opened for traffic from Saturday. This sea route made the travel of Mumbaikars comfortable. Lakhs of vehicles passed through the bridge in the first two days. However, many people are stopping their vehicles and rushing to see this sea bridge. After receiving the complaint in this regard, the police have increased the level of action.


The traffic police has taken action against 264 unruly drivers who stopped their vehicles without any reason and took selfies on Atal Setu and collected a fine of thousands of rupees from them. At the same time, the police have also cracked down on those who violate traffic rules.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Atal Setu on Friday. The bridge was opened to motorists from Saturday. However, on the first day, the drivers seemed quite excited about the bridge. Most of the passengers travelling between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai on Saturday used to travel from here to see this route. During this time, many drivers and passengers stopped on the bridge and took selfies and captured this picturesque scene in their cameras. However, this time unnecessary stopping at Atal Setu proved costly for many drivers and the traffic police has taken action against 250 drivers.


This action was taken under sections 122 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. A fine of INR 500-500 has been imposed on the drivers. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has appealed to the drivers not to put their lives and that of others in danger by stopping their vehicles unnecessarily at 'Atal Setu'.
