In the background of Makar Sankranti, 6,682 vehicles were inspected in a special campaign carried out by the Mumbai Police. At this time action was taken against 1869 bike riders who were riding bikes without helmets. Apart from this, 85 cases have been registered for speeding.


Under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar and Special Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti, the special operation was carried out under the supervision of Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary. During this campaign, blockade was done at 108 places in all police station limits. This time 6,682 vehicles have been inspected. A total of 138 motorists have been booked under the Motor Vehicle Act for driving without a helmet (1869), three on a two-wheeler (255), driving in the opposite direction.

Also, action has been taken against 20 drunk drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol. Apart from this, 153 vehicles were impounded for speeding. The Western Regional Division launched a special drive against speeding. Blockades were organised around Bandra Reclamation, Carter Road, Paschim Expressway, Kherwadi Junction, Bandra-Kurla Complex Road, Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road. This time a total of 77 crimes have been registered and 153 vehicles have been seized. The Mumbai Police has warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who endanger the lives of others by driving at high speed.
