Recently, it has been approved. Mumbai has been facing scorching heat for the last few days. In the coming days, electricity rates are going to increase in Mumbai.

According to the information received, due to an increase in electricity rates, electricity rates are going to become expensive by 24 percent. Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved the electricity tariff increase proposal of Tata Power. This increase is applicable for the year 2024-25 and it is being said that the electricity bill will be applicable as per the new rates from April 1, 2024.

The consumers who consume less than 100 units of electricity will see a greater impact of this increase. Because, from now on they will have to pay INR 4.96 per unit directly instead of INR 1.65 per unit (kWh). Even during this price increase, those consuming 500 units or more of electricity will get relief. Because, electricity rates for these consumers have reduced from INR 8.35 to INR 7.94 per unit.

Tata has taken this step of increasing the rates to clear its dues of INR 927 crore. Actually, Tata Group had demanded a 12 percent increase in electricity tariffs. But, the regulatory body directly approved the increase of 24 percent, which will now see a significant change in the calculation of electricity bill.
