Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has initiated online services for CNG booking which will be useful and a time saver for the auto and taxi drivers along with the private owners of the CNG vehicle. However, the taxi and auto unions have opposed the mandatory online booking for CNG.

The Unions opined that most of the taxi and auto drivers do not have smartphones and they wouldn’t know how to book CNG online. The taxi and auto unions on December 13 will protest against the decision near MGL office in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) at 10:00 in the morning.

Taxi Union General Secretary AL Quadros informed that the decision taken to book CNG online will be a waste as the auto and taxi drivers won’t be able to wait for an online booking. For three lakh consumers, there are only 135 CNG outlets in the city. It nearly takes three hours for the drivers to get CNG, the unions informed.
