The maximum and minimum temperatures in Mumbai dropped for the third day in a row due to cold weather in and around Mumbai.

The mercury dropped sharply, especially in the suburbs. The temperature in Mumbai has been falling for the last four days. Last week, the maximum temperature was recorded at 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 20 degrees Celsius. However, it started declining from Monday, January 25.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 15.3 degrees Celsius at Santacruz and 18 degrees Celsius at Colaba on Wednesday, January 27. The minimum temperature dropped in many places in the suburbs. Moreover, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a drop in the temperature on Friday.

On the other hand, the minimum temperature has gone below average at all places in the Konkan region. In parts of Central Maharashtra except for Jalgaon, the minimum temperature is still above average, however, the nights are slightly wintry. Moreover, the temperature in Vidarbha and Marathwada is around average.

However, with the drop in temperature, pollution is on the rise in both the city and the suburbs, and for the third day in a row, Mumbai's air quality has remained at a poor level. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) records, the air quality was reported the worst in Colaba. The level of pollutant (PM 2.5) in this place was 348. Combined with cold, dry air and humidity, Mumbai's air levels are declining due to construction and increasing vehicle pollution.
