TMT will earn around INR 12 crore in the next five years from advertising revenue on 310 buses of the Thane Municipal Transport Corporation. For the first time since 2016, the tender process for advertising rights on buses is going on. This process was delayed for a long time due to the COVID-19 period and short response.

As per the instructions given by Thane Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar and as per the resolution passed by the Thane Municipal Transport Committee, the tender process has been started. In this, advertisements can be given on a total of 310 buses in the fleet of TMT including 15 AC buses, 110 standard buses, 90 midi buses, 45 new and old buses of 'JNURM', 50 Tejaswini buses on lease for a period of five years.

The new tender has fixed a tender period of five years for advertisements. The rental rate will increase by 5 percent every year. Also, the contractor has to deposit one month's advance advertising rent by the 5th of every month. In the competitive tender process, the average rate per bus, per vehicle will be INR 5,776. It is expected to increase by five percent per annum and in five years, TMT will get an income of around INR 12 crores.

Earlier, advertisement tenders were floated for the period 2010 to 2013 and 2013 to 2016. In 2016, TMT floated advertisement tenders. The tender was extended till 2021. However, it did not include around 250 buses newly inducted into the fleet between 2016 and 2023. The new tender process includes advertisements on a total of 310 buses. Of course, that doesn't include electric buses. Because their advertisement rights are with the respective contractor..

Due to Corona period and non-availability of buses, TMT's annual income from advertisement on buses came down to INR 40 to 50 lakhs. The TMT administration hopes that there will be a substantial increase in it now.
