Fertiliser is being produced here by scientifically processing the waste. In the next few months, bio gas and electricity production from waste will start here. On the occasion of this project, after 14 years, Thane Municipality's waste processing centre has become operational.

Around 1 thousand metric tons of waste is generated in Thane municipal area every day. It contains 60 percent wet waste and 40 percent dry waste. Thane Municipal Corporation does not have its own landfill. Due to this, Thane Municipal Corporation was dumping garbage in the Diva area. Waste was not disposed of scientifically. The smell of garbage and smoke was spreading in the area due to the fire. The problem of the health of the citizens here had arisen. Because of this, citizens opposed the garbage project. After this, the municipality closed the Diva waste ground and set up a temporary garbage project outside the municipal area i.e. at Bhandarli. Although this project was set up for a year, it was still going on even after a year and a half.
