According to flower sellers in Thane, marigold flowers cost INR 40 per kg and Shewanti flowers cost INR 80 per kg.
There is a huge flower market near Thane station. Citizens come here to buy flowers. There is a large crowd of citizens here during festivals. During Navratri festival, a garland of marigold flowers is prepared and offered to the goddess. During this period, marigold flowers are in high demand as they are imported in large quantities. The festival of Dussehra is considered as one of the three and a half Muhurtas. Saraswati is worshipped on this day.
House, vehicle, jewellery are bought on a daily basis. At the same time, a garland of marigold flowers is tied on the door. Due to this, marigold flowers are in high demand on Dussehra day. Citizens buy flowers two days in advance. This year too, this picture remains the same. Citizens are thronging to buy flowers in the main market of Thane. The cost of marigold flowers is INR 40 per kg. At the same time, Shewanti flowers are used to make garlands and these flowers are also expensive. The price of this flower has increased by INR 80 per kg.
A few days ago, marigold flowers, which were selling at INR 60-80 per kg, have now crossed the 100 mark, while marigolds, which were selling at INR 50 per kg, are currently being sold at INr 70 per kg. So, Shevanti flowers are also in great demand on Dussehra. Flower sellers in Thane informed that Shewanti, which is sold at INR 120 to 150 per kg, is currently being sold at INR 200 per kg.
