With a view to keep the footpaths of Thane city free for the citizens to walk, the encroachment department of the Municipal Corporation is running a daily encroachment action campaign. A strict campaign has been undertaken to ensure that the Thane station area is free from encroachment. 

However, for the past few days, it has been noticed that the number of vegetable and fruit sellers are increasing on the vegetable market road which is adjacent to the main road from Netaji Subhash Chandra Path to Kopineshwar Mandir. The concerned were instructed to remove the said encroachment immediately. Commissioner Abhijit Bangar mentioned that after taking action accordingly, the seized fruits and vegetables etc. were distributed to charitable organisations.

The daily action campaign has been going on for the past week from 6:30 am. Action was taken against the unauthorised vegetable market located on the main road at Subhash Path. During this operation, vegetables and fruits have been confiscated and all the vegetables and fruits have been donated to charitable organisations such as Shiv Prerna Mandal at Chhatrapati Shivaji Kalwa Hospital, Divyaprabha Women's Orphanage at Vartak Nagar, Maa Niketan Mahila Kamgar Sanstha, Women's Welfare Foundation at Naupada, Homeless Organization of Naupada Kopri Ward. is being given to Sri Sadguru Seva Mandir Trust at Yeoor.

All the roads and footpaths near Thane station and the area must be permanently open for traffic. From this point of view, encroachment is also taking place by raising public awareness. Although the said campaign is going on continuously through the Municipal Corporation along with the Police Department, Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has appealed to the citizens not to do any kind of encroachment in this place and obstruct the traffic and not to buy from the hawkers.
