A free library will be made available for patients and relatives of patients along with doctors, nurses, ward boys at Thane Municipal Corporation's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa. This initiative has been taken to help the relatives of the patients who are admitted to make good use of their time and to give them courage and mental support in case of rise in mental stress. 

There will be a separate library not only for patients but also for doctors, nurses, ward boys, nannies working in the hospital. Magazines and books related to medical developments, hospital management will be available in this library. The selection of books through the entire library will be done in such a way that the emphasis will be on trying to keep the mindset of the patients positive, which can indirectly affect their health in a positive way. The selection of books will include multilingual books, self-help books, humorous books, informative books on how to take care of yourself.

 The Commissioner also believes that everyone who will come to the hospital will visit this library and will browse the books to relieve the stress.

This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with 'Let's Read India' Foundation, said Commissioner Bangar. He also mentioned that this concept is being implemented in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital and gradually will start libraries in other health centers.
