The Thane Municipal Corporation has constructed an Olympic level swimming pool at Balkum. Two years have passed since the inauguration of this swimming pool, but it is still not open to the public. Due to this, a question mark is being raised about the governance of the municipal corporation and anger is being expressed.
At Rammaruti Nagar in Balkum area, the Thane Municipal Corporation has constructed an Olympic-level Dharmaveer Anand Dighe swimming pool at a cost of INR 27 crores. This swimming pool was inaugurated two years ago by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Still this swimming pool is closed and actually the swimming pool is not used. Some citizens had complained to the MLA Sanjay Kelkar as the pool was not available for children and swimmers during the Diwali holidays.
Accordingly, MLA Sanjay Kelkar held a meeting at the Thane Municipal Headquarters on Wednesday and instructed the concerned officials to open the swimming pool on a war footing. This swimming pool, named after Dharamveer Anand Dighe, is being neglected due to the sloppy management of the Thane Municipal Corporation. Now the game of tendering for work has started again. Therefore, Kelkar asked the officials when this lake would see the light of day.
