The Thane Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for commuters on the occasion of the much-awaited Sanskruti Arts Festival 2026, which will be held from 6 to 9 February at Upvan Lake, Thane (West). The festival was originally scheduled in January but was postponed due to administrative and election-related reasons. As per the official notification, traffic restrictions will be in force daily from 2:00 PM to 12:00 midnight during the festival period.

According to the Thane Traffic Police, around 200 stalls will be set up on both sides of the road from Yeoor Gate to Upvan Payaladevi Temple. Several renowned artists and dignitaries will also participate in the festival.

Traffic Restrictions and Diversions

1. Birsa Munda Chowk Restrictions

All types of vehicles coming towards Upvan Lake from Vartak Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Devdaya Nagar–Gandhi Nagar, Kapurbawdi, and Pawar Nagar will be restricted at Birsa Munda Chowk.

Alternate Route:
Vehicles should turn right at Birsa Munda Chowk towards Pawar Nagar, then take a left turn near AESSEN Pvt. Ltd. Gate No. 18 (beside The Cave Truck) and proceed straight to reach their destination.

2. Traffic from Upvan towards Yeoor

Vehicles travelling from Gandhi Nagar, Kapurbawdi, and Pawar Nagar towards Yeoor via Upvan should turn left at Birsa Munda Chowk, go straight, then turn right at Devdaya Nagar Chowk to reach their destination.

3. Gavand Baug Area Restrictions

All vehicular traffic from Gavand Baug societies and Kokani Pada No. 1, Upvan, Thane (West) will be restricted up to the public toilet near Lotus Society main entrance, Gavand Baug.

Alternate Route:
Traffic from Gavand Baug and Kokani Pada No. 1 should turn left from Nilgiri Society corner (Ashapura–Navjeevan Medical), proceed via Gavand Bungalow, Surya Society–Gulmohar Society, and continue through AESSEN Pvt. Ltd. Gate No. 18 (near The Cave Truck) towards Pawar Nagar Road.

4. Yeoor Gate Restriction

All vehicles heading from Yeoor Gate to Upvan Payaladevi Temple will be restricted at Yeoor Gate.

Alternate Route:
Vehicles should turn left from Shivai Nagar–Devdaya Nagar Chowk, then proceed via Neelkanth Society and Birsa Munda Chowk to reach their destination.

No Parking Zones

No parking will be strictly enforced at the following locations:

  • Yeoor Gate to Shivai Nagar Chowk (both sides of the road)

  • Payaladevi Temple to Birsa Munda Chowk

  • Lotus Society main entrance to Ashapura–Navjeevan Medical, Upvan

Festival Program Highlights

  • 6 February: Renowned devotional singer Anand Bhate

  • 8 February: Pandit Ajay Pohankar and popular playback singer Shaan

  • 9 February: Poet and performer Shailesh Lodha, popularly known as Taarak Mehta from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, will grace the stage

Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance, follow traffic police instructions, and use alternate routes to avoid inconvenience during the festival.
