According to latest report, it has come to light that the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced that several parts of the city will face a 12-hour water cut on Wednesday, September 21.

The water supply will be cut from 9 am to 9 pm in view of some repair and maintenance work.

In an official statement, the Thane civic body stated that there is a possibility of low pressure water supply in this area for the next 1 to 2 days till the water supply returns to normal.

Areas including Indiranagar, Ramnagar, Srinagar, Lokmanya Nagar, Rupadevi, Yeur, Defence, Vitthal Sports Mandal, Kisan nagar, and some others, will face a 24-hour cut from 9 am on Wednesday to 9 pm am on Thursday, September 22, the civic body stated.

Explaining further, the TMC exclaimed that due to heavy rainfall in September, the Bhatsa dam has been flooded from time to time. This further led to waterlogging at the Pise filtration plant. The strainer at the plant is clogged with silt and garbage impacting the supply to the city. The water supply shutdown is to remove this sludge.

Due to heavy rains, the river Bhatsa floods frequently in the month of September and along with the flood water, a large amount of silt and garbage has accumulated in the Jack well. As this silt and garbage get stuck in the strainer of the pump at Pise, the flow of water through the pump has reduced, the civic corporation added.

Water supply through the Stem Authority will continue during this period. There is a possibility of a low-pressure water supply in this area for the next one to two days till the water supply returns to normal. The TMC further advised citizens to store water in advance.
