In the last couple of weeks, the number of patients in Maharashtra have been declining. Over time, this has had a cascading impact on the total number of patients undergoing treatment (active patients). Currently, the active patients in the state stand at less than one lakh.

While this is a good start, but there is a fear of the second wave looming large. Even as Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray warned of the possibility of a second wave of COVID-19 cases. He mentioned that the rate of infection in the state is showing signs of decreasing. In the first eight days of November, the positivity rate in the state has consistently remained under 10 per cent.

On Monday, 8232 patients have been cured and discharged across the state. Meanwhile, a total of 15, 77, 322 patients have been cured from the virus in the state till date. The recovery rate of the patients in the state is 91.71 per cent. While 5,092 new patients were diagnosed in the state, said Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

As per the data from the state health department, so far in November, the state has averaged 4,889 cases daily, while 59,141 tests were conducted daily on an average.

Presently, there are a total of 96,372 active patients in the state. With the death of 110 infected patients, the state’s death toll touched 45,240, at the rate of 2.63 per cent. Out of 94, 40, 535 laboratory samples tested till date, 17, 19 858 (18.22 per cent) samples have tested positive, among, 10, 51 321 persons are home quarantined while 7,912 are at the quarantine centres.

In November, so far, the positivity rate has averaged 8.35 per cent, which means for every 100 samples tested, about eight are positive. This ratio was around 15 per cent in October and 24 per cent in September.

However, in the last 24 hours, 23 coronavirus patients have died in Mumbai. The total number of patients in Mumbai has now reached to 2,64,543. On Sunday, 865 people have overcome the disease and a total of 2,36,522 patients infected with the corona have succeeded in overcoming the corona.
