The Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli and Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporations have declared that no COVID-19 vaccination will be held on Thursday, June 10.

This decision was taken soon after the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, June 9, issued a warning stating that the city might witness 'heavy' to 'very heavy rainfall for the next four days.

Besides, due to heavy rainfall yesterday, waterlogging was reported in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and other parts of the MMR region.

A Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) official mentioned that in such a situation if citizens come out for vaccination, it can result in calamity. Hence, taking safety and precautionary measures all the vaccination centres in Thane are closed on June 10 and will be resume after further orders from the senior officers and IMD.

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) health department too announced the closure of vaccination centres on June 10.

Similarly, the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation too announced the closure of all the vaccination centres from June 10 to June 13, 2021.

In addition, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has cancelled the vaccination drive for June 10. Besides, a special vaccination drive for persons with disabilities has also been postponed due to the same reason.

Since June 8 night, the city has been receiving intermittent rainfall. The city recorded more than 150 mm average rainfall in the last two days.
