Part of the roof of the 20th floor of the under-construction Navjeevan building at Govind Nagar on Haji Bapu Marga in Malad suddenly collapsed around 12 noon on Thursday. Three people died and three others were injured in this accident.
Construction of a multi-storied building under the Slum Rehabilitation Scheme (SRA) was ongoing at Malad. A part of the roof of the 20th floor suddenly collapsed around 12 noon on Thursday. It is believed that some workers working at the construction site might be trapped under the debris. On getting information about the incident, the fire brigade immediately reached the spot and took up the rescue operation.
Six people who were injured in the accident were pulled out from under the rubble and admitted to the nearby MW Desai Hospital. Doctors declared three of them dead and one has been admitted to the orthopaedic department. The names of the injured and dead workers have not been released yet.
