As per reports, the board of the Andhra Pradesh-based Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has decided to build a replica of the popular temple in Mumbai. The board manages the pilgrimage in Tirupati which witnesses thousands of devotees on a daily basis.

Mumbai's Tirupati Balaji Temple will be built in Bandra East, on a piece of land that was allotted during the previous government. The cost to build the replica of the Tirupati Balaji Temple will be INR 30 crores and the work for the same will begin in January 2021. It is said that the work was delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and as per the revised plan, the bhoomi pooja will be done in January, as scheduled. The temple will be constructed in two years and will be opened for the public then.

One of the board members, Amol Kale, in an interview with the Indian Express stated that the officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam trust have decided to build this temple long back, and the same will be managed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam board. The idol will remain the same and the structure will be similar to the original temple. Moreover, the decision was taken after understanding that several devotees were not able to visit the temple in Andhra Pradesh.

Kale added that architect Hafeez Contractor will be leading the project and will design the nine-floor temple. The structure will have two two basement floors, the garbhalayam on the ground floor, rest area for the pilgrims in the first floor, along with amenities for activities like yoga and meditation, prayer and yoga. Following three floors will include staff quarters and guest rooms.
