Along with this, the local people's representatives also demanded from time to time that the municipality should have its own system in case of a calamity in the city. Local MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde took the initiative and demanded funds for this from the government. Accordingly, a fund of INR 23 crores has been made available through the Disaster Management and Relief and Rehabilitation Department of the State Revenue and Forest Department. This has paved the way for the construction of the much awaited transit camp. The construction of this centre will be started soon. After the construction of this centre, the major inconvenience of Ulhasnagar and some nearby towns will end. Also, a rightful and safe shelter will be available on a temporary basis to the needy who are in distress during the calamity.

Disaster management systems work promptly and proactively to deal with calamities like floods, landslides, earthquakes, building collapses, fires. During such calamities, the personnel of the disaster management system are saving the lives of common citizens by risking their own lives. However, after evacuation of citizens from natural or unnatural calamities, they all need temporary but safe shelter until permanent shelter is provided for these citizens. At such times, they are shifted to various safe places.
