Two bids have been received by the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) for its 7.2-kilometre-long ropeway project that will help link residents of Gorai and Marve to the Metro Line 2A that runs between Dahisar (W) and Andheri (W), stated reports.

The Request for Proposal for Implementation of the said ropeway corridor which will function from Mahavir Nagar Metro Station (Link Road) to Pagoda to Gorai Village was drifted in March 2020.

Since the aerial transport system is a quicker mode of transportation as opposed to ferries that currently operates through the said corridor, the proposed scheme was devised, stated MMRDA officials according to accounts.

The primary motive of the MMRDA was to interlink the Charkop metro station to the Marve village and Mahavir Nagar metro station with the Gorai Pagoda and village.

In lieu of this, a tender was floated for the said project. Unfortunately, they did not receive any replies for it which is why it was decided that the project be stalled. Not just this, but the tender too had to be extended multiple times, mentioned narratives.

With two parties now showing interest, it is anticipated that the work will commence. DVR Shrinivas the MMRDA metropolitan commissioner has affirmed this development, based on the report by the Indian Express.
