On Wednesday, two more cases of coronavirus emerged from Dadar. Among the two who tested positive, one is a 75-year-old woman and the other one is a 69-year-old man. With this, the total number of cases in Dadar has gone up to 21, raising concerns in the minds of the Dadar residents.

Both the patients are said to be Shivaji Park residents and therefore, the authorities have asked the people in the area to stay at home.

The 21 positive cases from Dadar consist of two doctors and six nurses of Shushrusha Hospital, five from Tawade Wadi, two each from Kelkar Road and Shivaji Park, one each from Dinkar Apartment, Saubhagya Apartment, Kasarawadi, and Ambedkar Nagar.

Other than that, a 55-year-old from Prakash Nagar, Mahim tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of cases in the area to seven.

With the two new cases emerging from Dadar, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is gradually witnessing an increase in the number of cases from G-North ward. There have been more than 300 cases from the neighbouring ward, G-South ward. Prabhadevi, Worli are the two prominent areas under the G-South ward. Worli has become a hotspot for the virus with close to 20 per cent cases in the city being recorded from the area.

The total number of cases in G-North ward as on April 14, 2020, from the data shared by BMC, was 97.

The risk of contracting the virus in these areas is high but the people fail to take the issue seriously and have been flouting lockdown rules. Mumbai Police has been taking action against such people and so far, they have booked 473 people from North Mumbai for gathering and overcrowding.
