Two teachers of a play school on Swami Vivekananda Road in Kandivali West were booked on Sunday for allegedly abusing, hitting and slapping 25 children. A complaint has been filed by the father of the 2-year-old boy. When the father noticed serious behavioural changes in his child, such as being afraid of noise and becoming aggressive, he approached the school about the matter.
According to complainant Kaushal Dinesh Jhaveri (35), who works for Asian Paints and lives in Kandivali West, the teachers of Rhymes and Rumbles Play School allegedly misbehaved with his son and other children as well. Zaveri told the police that he had enrolled his son in a pre-school in October last year and the school was for two hours every day.
"There was no way to do a background check of the playgroup, our choice of playschool was based solely on the experience of other parents," Zaveri said. 25 children were admitted in two batches in the playgroup.

Noticed behavioural changes
He further said, “Then I got suspicious and started talking to other parents in the playgroup. I soon realised that all the parents were experiencing similar behavioural changes in their children, so they asked the teachers to provide CCTV recordings of class sessions.”
Jhaveri and some other parents approached the police after seeing the CCTV recording. The Kandivali police have booked the two teachers under section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act 2000 (Punishment of cruelty to a juvenile or child). The police have given notice to the teachers to appear before the authorities and record their statement. The police said that the matter is being investigated.
