The number of road accidents due to potholes have been increasing significantly. It should be noted that the Eastern Expressway connecting Thane and Mumbai has developed potholes in several places which causes huge inconvenience to motorists, especially two-wheelers.

Several constructions for metro and flyovers is underway on the Eastern Expressway which causes a traffic jam and intensifies the problem of potholes. Last year, the construction of the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Chunabhatti connector was concluded. Now, the work for another flyover connection Ghatkopar in underway.

The route on the eastern expressway has a huge number of two-wheelers along with other heavy vehicles. The small potholes pose a threat to those travelling on a two-wheeler. Those travelling at high-speed on this route don’t anticipate the potholes leading to accidents.

The Mumbai traffic police face trouble in managing the traffic due to the accidents on eastern expressway. This has been happening for a long time now. Therefore, the traffic police department often files a complaint with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) regarding the potholes.
