Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had demanded that the Bandra Versova Sea Link be named after freedom fighter Savarkar. On March 13, 2023, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wrote a letter in this regard to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. In it, two demands were made that the Bandra Versova Sea Bridge should be named after freedom fighter Savarkar and the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link should be named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the late Prime Minister of India. Both these demands have been accepted. This has been approved in the Cabinet meeting.

What were the demands made by Devendra Fadnavis?

Devendra Fadnavis wrote a letter on March 13. The letter demanded new names for Coastal Road, Sea Link and Trans Harbour Link. It has already been announced that the coastal road will be named after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Two demands were also made in the letter that the Bandra Versova Sea Link should be named after freedom fighter Savarkar and the Trans Harbor Link in Mumbai should be named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Both the demands have been sealed in the cabinet meeting.
