From April 11 to April 26, the Captain Vinayak Gore road overbridge in Vile Parle, which connects the west and east sides of the suburbs, will be closed to traffic between 1:00 am and 4:00 am.
As per the Western Railway officials, as part of a safety audit by a team from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, the bridge was inspected.
Gokhale bridge also not operational
Commuters believe the shutting down of the Vile Parle bridge, even for a few hours, might impact traffic as the Gokhale bridge in Andheri is also closed.
The BMC declared the Gokhale Road bridge unsafe for traffic and pedestrians last year on November 7. At present, the BMC is reconstructing the bridge and hopes to open two lanes before the monsoon.
