According to a latest report, it has come to light that the water supply to the Bhokarpada treatment plant will be cut off on Tuesday, May 24 owing to maintenance work.

Due to this, the residents living under the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s (NMMC) jurisdiction and a couple of CIDCO administered nodes will face water cuts on May 24 evening.

The civic body will carry out pre-monsoon maintenance work at Morbe Dam to Digha mainline.

As per the engineering department of NMMC, there will be no water supply in Belapur, Sanpada, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, and Airoli wards.

Additionally, the water supply will resume the next day, Wednesday, May 25 morning, however, with low pressure. The civic body has appealed to citizens to store water and use it judiciously during this period.

Sources said the NMMC has taken a shutdown after a long time to pave way for fixing leakage areas along the 60km main line. Enroute villages along the mainline will also have to face dry taps.

Moreover, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has stated that there will be a 5 per cent water cut from Tuesday, May 24 to May 27 between 11 am and 3 pm in South Bombay.

In addition to this, other areas that are slated to be impacted are eastern suburbs like KurlaGovandiMankhurd, Chembur and Tilak Nagar, as narratives mentioned.
