This development comes just a day after the BMC’s Water for All scheme was formally launched by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday, May 7, in Dindoshi

"The true marker of development is equality of access to basic necessities. Keeping this at the core, CM Uddhav Thackeray ji launched the ‘Water for All’ policy today, wherein BMC will enable every citizen in Mumbai to have access to clean drinking water through formal sources," said Environment and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray after the inauguration.

The policy states that the BMC providing a water connection does not entitle a person to claim ownership/title of any property. Such connections are liable to be cut off for failure to maintain them properly. For availing the benefits, one has to submit occupancy proof.

BMC chief Iqbal Chahal said implementation will begin immediately though they have not quantified the beneficiary population yet.

Moreover, last week, water supply was cut off in certain areas of R Central and R North, wards of Mumbai.
