Mumbai - The civic body loses a huge quantity of water through leakages in its distribution pipelines. The water theft on large scale has also been affecting it. The concerned authorities have now decided to take up the work of sealing of leakages by spending an amount of Rs 50 crore. A proposal in this regard will be presented before the standing committee on next Wednesday. The BMC supplies 3,750 MLD water to the city every day. Out of this quantity, around 650 MLD water goes waste through leakages and around 140 MLD water gets stolen by water mafias. To deal with these issue, the BMC has planned large scale repair and it has chalked out a plan for the entire city.
The proposed spending on different wards include:

K-East – Rs 6.97 crore
P-North – Rs 1.34 crore
S-Ward – Rs 5.92 crore
K-West – Rs 11.23 crore
N-Ward – Rs 3.06 crore
R-North – Rs 3.31 crore
L-Ward – Rs 7.90 crore
M-East – Rs 6.07 crore
T-Ward – Rs 4.64 crore
