A nine-year-old girl died in an accident due to the bursting of a water tank at Siddharth Nagar in Nagpada on Wednesday night. Three others were injured. The injured include a woman worker, a man and a small child. It has been said by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) that the tank burst due to the increase in water pressure.

Houses are being constructed under the shelter scheme for municipal cleaners in Siddharth Nagar by the municipal administration. A cement tank was built there to store the water required for the construction of houses. As the water tank became empty, water was released in it on Wednesday morning. As the water pressure was high at that time, the tank suddenly burst in the evening.

The injured were immediately shifted to the nearby Fauzia Hospital for treatment. However, Khushi died before treatment. Doctors said that the other three injured are undergoing treatment in the hospital and their condition is stable.

The contractor who was appointed by the BMC for the construction of the houses employed the injured workers concerned. The police have registered a case of accidental death in this incident and further investigation is underway.
