Mumbai- BMC has successfully declared 18 wards as open defecation. According to the October 2016 survey, in 24 wards, 118 areas are now announced as no defecation free area. And so the percentage of open defecation has come down from 83% to 20%. “We will try to make remaining 20 areas of six wards free from open defecation. But, residents should also support civic officials in order to maintain cleanliness,” said Solid Waste Management’s assistant commissioner Kiran Dighavkar.
