Mumbaikars faced yet another disruption and hassle while commuting to their destinations this morning, November 4, as local trains on Western line were delayed and cancelled especially during peak hours.
It has come to light that due to technical problems all up and down fast Mumbai suburban locals are running late by 15-20 minutes, tweeted Western Railways (WR).

Clarifying about the snag, WR spokesperson shared: “There was a point failure at Goregaon on Up and Down fast lines at 6.20 hrs, which was put right at 7.23 hrs. Due to this suburban trains are running late by about 15 minutes.”
Owing to this, six locals were cancelled and at least 70 trains were delayed. In addition, six long-distance trains were also delayed by nearly 30 minutes, as per an official statement released railways.
The WR's tweet faced a backlash on the micro-blogging site for their neglected approach in providing better services to Mumbai commuters.
Moreover, several daily passengers also pointed out that every morning trains are delayed by a few minutes, say 5-7mins; however, the commuters have been acquainted to this pattern and plan their daily schedule accordingly.

Mumbai Live personnel, who commute daily from Vasai and Mira Road, witnessed the chaos and crowd at various platforms. Describing the situation further, they exclaimed: "Trains are usually late by a few minutes on regular basis. But today, many locals were cancelled and delayed by at least 20-25 minutes. Due to this people, office-goers have to put their lives at stake and board an overly-crowded train in order to reach on time."
Delay in local trains have been a part of daily routine for many years. Many a times, locals are often delayed/ cancelled without prior announcements, which leads to hay way amongst passengers also causing unwanted chaos. Moreover, due to this, commuters face several problems in terms of their travel time as well as work wise every now and then, exerts Karishma Lama, who travels daily to Andheri.
Complaining about issues causing due to AC local trains, she further added: “Even after leaving beforehand, due to delay of trains unannounced, passengers are reaching late to their destination. Delay in trains are not mentioned/ announced before, due to which all the other trains are also hindered. This impacts the rush during peak hours. Delay of trains once in a while is expected, but arrival of trains late regularly and arriving before time sometimes but still reaching late is the major reasons of all the hassle.”
Also due to change of platform nos. At Borivali a lot of chaos is being caused. The earlier schedule was perfect. Why has been revised without considering the effects.

Replying to DRM, Sanjay Shah tweeted, "Why u dont mention the specific problem & where it has happened??? Even vande bharat is late by almost one hour. Be transparent."
"The announcements on platforms for the same are very few and voice is not at all clear," said Dinesh Cheda.
